10 Megawatts of Utility Scale Solar Power for Bulgaria

DALLAS, May 03, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- --"Made in the USA" Supplier to Increase U.S. Renewable Energy Exports

BASIC Solar USA Inc., an integrated solar power plant development company, has entered a contract to purchase 10 megawatts (MW) of solar modules from 1 SolTech, Inc., Richardson, Texas, for BASIC Utility installations in Bulgaria. Balmoral Capital Holdings, Inc., BVI, an investment banking and financial facilitating company, has organized financing for BASIC Solar. Financial terms of the deal were not released.

1 SolTech's solar modules are rated investment-grade both in output power and their ability to withstand hail and wind damage, making them ideal for industrial and utility applications. 1 SolTech, Inc. (www.1soltech.com) is one of the few U.S. -based developers and manufacturers of solar modules.

Apex Solar Bulgaria, a strategic partner in Bulgaria (www.apexexperts.com), is expected to coordinate the building and installation of this and 50 photovoltaic power plants, now in various stages of development in Bulgaria. This is the first phase of a two-year process. Although the selling price was not disclosed, the USA-made modules from 1 SolTech are seen as a breakthrough in American solar panel exporting and entering the Green economy of Europe.

Bulgaria is rapidly deploying solar power plants as part of its commitment to convert 10 percent of its electrical generation to renewable sources. Bulgaria must meet this commitment as a condition for admittance to the European Union. At present, most of Bulgaria's current power generation comes from coal plants.
